As there never seems to be enough times at weddings to mix and mingle with everyone as much as we would like, we invite all of our guests to spend the weekend in Houston with us!

Welcome Party

Thursday, January 4th, 5:00-9:00pm

West Alabama Ice House and Tacos Tierra Caliente, 1919 West Alabama Street

Attire: Extremely casual. Cowboy boots encouraged.

The site of M+K’s first date. Kevin paid for the $2 tacos and Meghan paid for the canned beer. While not the fanciest first date, as Kevin says, "It worked!"

Wedding Ceremony, Cocktails, Dinner and Dancing

Saturday, January 6th, Promptly beginning at 4:30pm until 11:00pm

Brennan’s of Houston, 3300 Smith Street

Attire: Formal

The ceremony will be in the outdoor courtyard, and the reception will be upstairs in the ballroom. Valet parking at Brennan's is included, but we encourage carpooling and using lyft/uber so everyone can enjoy all of the champagne toasts with us.

We will also be having an "unplugged" ceremony, so please leave your phones and cameras in your pockets and purses and leave the photography to the professionals. We want all of our guests to be fully present with us in the moment.

Come and celebrate with us as we exchange vows in front of the people that have shaped our lives. Cocktails, dinner, and dancing to immediately follow the ceremony.

Farewell Brunch

Sunday, January 7th, 9:30am-11:30am

The home of Jane and Mike Downs, 13414 Alchester Lane

Attire: Casual

We are excited to spend more time with our friends and family from near and far before we depart back to Philadelphia as husband and wife.

Things to do in Houston

Eating

Hugo's (Montrose): Think Mexican street food meets upscale restaurant. The scallops over cornbread paired with a blackberry mojito is our favorite meal there.

The Original Ninfa's on Navigation: This is where Kevin and I dream about whenever we have Texmex at any other establishment. Ninfa's has the most delicious fajitas and super strong margaritas. If you are in town for a day or two before the wedding, we highly recommend!

Drew's BBQ (Montrose): While it may not look like much from the outside, we have been known to eat a pound of ribs each in one sitting. Once, they sold out by 3pm when we went, so we returned the next day at 10am to get a full rack of ribs. It's that good. Meat falls off the bone and will make you wonder how anyone could ever be vegetarian.

Tout Suite (downtown): A favorite for coffee, lunch, and macarons. It is an industrial space that feels comfortable enough to lounge in for hours.

The Honeymoon Cafe (downtown): Food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, as well as coffee and delicious cocktails at night

Drinking

Anvil (Montrose): If you're in the mood for crafty cocktails, this is your place. While there is often a wait at the bar, the drinks are one of a kind and always delicious. Order from over 100 delicious cocktails on the menu, or do what do what we do, and tell the bartenders what you like to drink and have them whip you up something unique. Just down the street is its beer sister, Haymerchant.

Haymerchant (Montrose): A favorite beer garden of ours and our friends, this was only a few blocks from our apartments, and we often came here (including on our first date!)

Saint Arnold Brewing Company: Texas' oldest craft brewery offers daily tours. Saint Arnold's can be found on tap at any bar in Houston. The founders also went to Rice University, where Meghan did her Master's degree.

Okra Charity Saloon (Downtown): A delicious cocktail bar that donates 100% of profits back to a Houston-based charity. With each drink, you get a ticket and can vote for who you think the money should go to, and at the end of the month, the votes are tallied. One of the co-owners is the same guy that owns Anvil and Hay merchant (basically, their stuff is good).

The Pastry War (Downtown): If you are looking for tequila, this is the place to go. Lots of tequila, margaritas, and Mexican appetizers.

Coffee Shops we like: Inversion, Siphon, and Blacksmith

Places to go

Hermann Park (near Rice University): With jogging trails, a golf course, Japanese garden, and picnic areas, we often found ourselves here. Wonderful for a walk around during the day before the wedding!

Menil Museum (Montrose): Always free, this modern art museum is amazing. Meghan performed concerts here, and Kevin's dad was one of the architects that worked on the beautiful space. Next door across the grass is also Rothko Chapel.

Discovery Green (Downtown): A grassy 12-acre oasis amongst Houston's downtown skyscrapers. Nearby restaurants have a view of the park, which offers walkways and ice skating.

Houston Galleria: If you are looking for a mall to do some shopping (or if your suitcase is lost and you need an outfit), this is the place to go. It is Texas' largest shopping center, and boasts every store you could think of.
